Job summary

Planit is seeking a Junior Automation Engineer in Melbourne to join a leading QA consultancy. You will build and maintain automated tests using modern tools, supporting scalable automation frameworks and DevOps-driven delivery.

You’ll gain exposure to Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with developers, testers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software and improve testing practices across projects.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity to work with a leading QA consultancy, partnering with enterprise clients to modernise testing practices, implement scalable automation frameworks, and embed DevOps-driven delivery.

This role is ideal for a Junior Automation Engineer looking to build on their automation testing skills and gain exposure to modern testing practices and tools.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Assist with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Support the adoption of automation best practices across projects and teams
• Contribute to improving test frameworks and automation capabilities
• Help manage test environments and test data to ensure smooth execution of automated testing
• Work closely with developers, testers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.
• Learn and apply QA best practices while contributing to the continuous improvement of testing processes.
• Gain further experience with modern automation tools, frameworks, and agile delivery environments.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD environments, including tools such as Jenkins.
• Some experience creating or enhancing automated test frameworks.
• Exposure to testing web-based or SaaS applications.
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
• Experience working with test environments and test data management.
• A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and passion for automation and quality engineering.
