Job summary

Best Practice Software Pty Ltd in Brisbane, Queensland, is seeking a seasoned Test & Automation Engineer to strengthen our desktop-to-cloud automation efforts. You will build automated test coverage, integrate QA into CI/CD, and advance testing for Win32/.NET desktop apps while preparing for cloud transition.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor peers, and apply AI tooling to generate tests and improve quality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Software Testing / QA.
• 4+ years hands-on in Test Automation.
• Experience testing Windows desktop apps (Win32/.NET).
• Direct experience with legacy-to-cloud migrations.
• CI/CD integration experience.
• Exposure to AI tooling for test generation and coding.

As a Test & Automation Engineer, we'll call on your unique talents, skills, expertise, and experience to:

• Execute strategies and plans, communicating a clear sense of understanding and purpose within the team to progress initiatives and assist in developing best practice automation skills and testing solutions;
• Provide enthusiastic and encouraging feedback on priorities, objectives, and expectations on a regular and consistent basis;
• Actively participate in the testing of products to detect and raise issues related to security and performance vulnerabilities;
• Own, write, review, and maintain the documentation related to automation and answer frequently asked questions (FAQs) for internal and external users;
• Contribute to a high-performing team to provide testing outcomes, including automation scripts, test suites and test reports.

Technical Experience and Skills

Context: BP Prem is a Windows desktop (thick-client) app moving toward the cloud. Immediate priority is building test coverage and building automation on the desktop app, while preparing for the cloud transition.

• 7+ years in Software Testing / QA as a core discipline.
• 4+ years hands-on in Test Automation.

Automation & Frameworks:

• Playwright: Must have solid, practical experience building and maintaining Playwright test suites (not just basic familiarity).
• C#: Strong C# automation skills (required for current desktop automation).

Application Types:

• Experience testing Windows desktop thick-client apps (Win32 / .NET).
• Direct experience working through legacy-to-cloud migrations.

CI/CD:

• Practical experience integrating automated suites into CI/CD pipelines as quality gates.

AI Tooling:

• Actively uses AI tools day-to-day for test generation and coding.
• Strong analytical skills - able to unpack complex business logic with domain SMEs and write thorough, structured test cases.
• Exposure to other frameworks (Cypress, Selenium) as we standardise tooling.
