Recruitaustralia is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join their Projects Team in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. The role involves building, testing and commissioning advanced machinery and working from engineering drawings and CAD models.

You will collaborate with engineering and production teams on prototype builds, machine modifications, testing and continuous improvement, with a hands-on, practical engineering approach.

Qualifications

• Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical qualifications or relevant trade qualifications.
• Experience in machinery assembly, machine building, testing or commissioning.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of CAD drawings and 3D modelling.
• Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of electrical systems.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with evolving designs and modifications.
• Good computer literacy and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

An excellent opportunity exists to join a highly successful global engineering and advanced machine manufacturing company located in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

Our client designs and manufactures sophisticated CNC machinery and automation systems for customers around the world.

They are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer, Mechanical/Electrical Technician or suitably qualified Tradesperson to join their Projects Team, working on special-application machinery and new product development.

This is an exciting hands‑on engineering position involving the building, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of advanced machinery.

You will work closely with the engineering and production teams, assisting with prototype builds, machine modifications, testing and continuous improvement.

The position would ideally suit someone with a Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering background who enjoys practical, hands‑on work and has a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.

THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

• Mechanical and electrical assembly of special-purpose and new-product machinery.
• Building, testing and commissioning machinery and equipment.
• Working with engineering teams on new product development and special applications.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
• Understanding and working with CAD drawings and 3D models.
• Conducting machine trials, testing and fault-finding.
• Identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical and operational issues.
• Recording test results, modifications and engineering changes.
• Working from evolving designs and drawings during development projects.
• Liaising with engineering, production and technical personnel.
• Assisting with improvements to machine performance, reliability and manufacturing processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualifications OR relevant trade qualifications.
• Experience in machinery assembly, machine building, testing or commissioning.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Understanding of CAD drawings and 3D modelling.
• Good mechanical aptitude and an understanding of electrical systems.
• Strong technical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with evolving designs and engineering modifications.
• Good computer literacy and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team.
• Experience with CNC machinery, automation or special-purpose equipment would be highly regarded.
