Job summary

Talon Group is seeking a Product Design Engineer for Mechatronic Appliances in Sydney. You will contribute to the full product lifecycle, from concept through to commercial launch, in a collaborative environment that values practical engineering solutions and innovation.

Ideal candidates will combine strong SolidWorks CAD skills with a deep understanding of electromechanical systems, testing, and manufacturing considerations to deliver high-quality, reliable products.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechatronic or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Advanced SolidWorks and CAD skills essential.
• Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and mechatronic systems with testing/validation experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFx with local/offshore suppliers.
• Experience managing multiple engineering projects and good commercial judgement.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in research, design and development of new products from concept to commercialisation.
• Interpret market and customer requirements to deliver functional, aesthetically pleasing products with commercial viability.
• Design components and assemblies using SolidWorks and produce detailed drawings and BOMs.
• Develop prototypes and conduct hands-on testing to validate performance, safety and reliability.
• Prepare test plans and coordinate testing to meet Australian and international standards.
• Collaborate with local and overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers throughout development and production.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, manufacturability, performance and cost.
• Redesign components to support continuous product improvement initiatives.
• Manage multiple projects with timelines, budgets and deliverables; maintain engineering documentation.
