Job summary

Kilcoy Global Foods currently has permanent opportunities for Mechanical Technicians in a fast-paced beef production environment. Roles include Mechanical Fitters and Plant Engineers across agricultural, production, refrigeration, boiler and rendering operations, with day and night shifts.

The team seeks individuals with a Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical/Plant Engineering and proven maintenance leadership skills for a dynamic FMCG setting. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Plant Engineering.
• Experience in a similar maintenance role on large manufacturing or FMCG sites.
• Proven ability to manage CAPEX and lead large-scale project teams.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time-management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in internal and external meetings related to the Maintenance function.
• Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety Act obligations and identify, assess, and control workplace hazards.
• Maintain quality control and optimise plant efficiency to minimise downtime.
• Conduct statutory checks and audits to meet regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop preventative maintenance schedules, analyse performance data, and implement improvements.
• Manage and coordinate allocated projects from planning to commissioning, delivering on time and within budgets.

About the role

Kilcoy Pastoral Company Limited Location: 4830 D’Aguilar Highway, Winya Queensland 4515 Employment Type: Permanent Kilcoy Global Foods currently has permanent opportunities for Mechanical Technicians to join our team in a fast-paced, 24/7 beef production environment. Work environments will vary from agricultural, production, refrigeration, biomass boiler and rendering.

We are looking for Mechanical Fitters, Mechanical Fitter and Turners and Mechanical Engineering Technicians.

• Lead and participate in internal and external meetings and forums related to the Maintenance function.
• Ensure compliance with

Work Health and Safety Act obligations, including identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards.

• Maintain consistent quality control and work practices to optimise plant efficiency and minimise production downtime.
• Conduct statutory checks and audits to meet internal and external regulatory compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop preventative maintenance schedules, analyse performance data, and implement operational improvements.
• Manage and coordinate allocated projects from planning to commissioning, ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets.

Remuneration

• Night Shift $56.08 per hour.
• Day shift $48.28 per hour.

Roster

• Night Shift | 16:00
• 04:00hrs.
• Day Shift | 4.00
• 16:00hrs.
• 5 days on, 4 days off then 4 days on, 5 days off.

About you

• Previous experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Proven ability to manage engineering and maintenance functions across large manufacturing or FMCG sites.
• Experienced in managing capital expenditure and leading large-scale project teams.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in team management.
• Holds a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Plant Engineering.
• Develop and document relevant technical specifications.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers or contractors.
• Negotiate and purchase required project resources.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of buildings and equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and great diagnostics for fault finding.
• Reliable, motivated self-starter.
• Can-do attitude, focusing on solutions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management skills and communication skills.
• FMCG or manufacturing environment (highly regarded).
• Beef slaughter process equipment (highly regarded).
• Associated downstream offal and rendering plant and equipment (highly regarded).
• Downstream processing (boning, chilling, packaging, labelling and transfer systems) (highly regarded).
• Unlimited working rights within Australia.
• Ability to work alongside a diverse workforce.
• Driver's licence and reliable vehicle, or reliable means of getting to work.
• Vaccinated (or willing to be) against Q Fever.
