Job summary

Dubbo Regional Council is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor (Water & Sewer) to lead the safe operation of its water and sewer mechanical assets across the Dubbo region. The role combines field and office work, with a hands-on focus, to develop capability and deliver outcomes through a collaborative team.

You will lead with a strong safety mindset, manage contractor relationships, and contribute to asset management while benefiting from a 9-day fortnight and a leaseback vehicle option.

Qualifications

  • Trade Qualification in Engineering Mechanical Trade or Equivalent with extensive post trade experience.
  • Experience in the water industry, particularly treating water and wastewater.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Administrative skills showing literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills.

  • Apply hands-on trade knowledge to solve ground-level problems.

As Mechanical Supervisor (Water & Sewer), you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of water and sewer services across the Dubbo region. This role is known as Water Sewer Mechanical Coordinator on the Council Organisational Structure.

You’ll make an impact by:
  • Owning the safe and effective operation of water and sewer mechanical assets, ensuring best‑practice outcomes from start to finish
  • Applying your practical trade background (including carpentry and plumbing skills) to solve problems on the ground
  • Leading with a strong safety mindset, promoting safe systems of work across teams and contractors
  • Managing stakeholder communication and delivering completed works you can confidently stand behind
  • Growing a strong team culture through hands‑on leadership and knowledge sharing
What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Trade Qualification in Engineering Mechanical Trade or Equivalent with extensive post trade experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in the water industry in particular treating water and wastewater
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Administrative skills demonstrating a competent level of literacy, numeracy and intermediate computer skills.
  • Experience in contractor management and understanding critical asset management
We would also love you to have:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience with fluid hydraulics and pneumatics

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $94,908 to $1110,296 including market allowance. A leaseback vehicle is also available.
