Job summary

Workfast is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a Waste Management & Recycling Facility in New Chum, QLD. You will lead a small maintenance team, carrying out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, and shutdown work to keep the plant operating safely and efficiently.

This hands-on leadership role requires a Mechanical Fitter with strong fixed-plant experience, with duties including mentoring apprentices and coordinating daily workloads with operations.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner.
• Experience in Leading Hand or Senior Mechanical Fitter.
• Strong fixed-plant experience in recycling, manufacturing, quarry, mining or heavy industrial environments.
• Proven ability to lead a maintenance team and coordinate daily workloads.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a small team of Mechanical Fitters and maintenance personnel.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and breakdown repairs on fixed plant and mobile plant equipment.
• Prioritise maintenance tasks to minimise plant downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate repairs efficiently.
• Work on conveyors, shredders, screens, pumps, gearboxes and other recycling plant equipment.
• Assist with shutdowns, plant upgrades and new equipment installations.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
• Mentor apprentices and junior tradespeople where required.
• Communicate effectively with operations to ensure maintenance schedules are met.

Workfast is looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a Waste Management & Recycling Facility in New Chum, QLD

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced Mechanical Fitter with a strong background in fixed plant maintenance. You will lead a small maintenance team while carrying out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, shutdown work, and continuous improvement projects to keep the plant operating safely and efficiently.

What You Bring to the Team

• Trade Qualification as a Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner
• Previous experience in a Leading Hand or Senior Mechanical Fitter position
• Strong background working on fixed plant within recycling, manufacturing, quarry, mining or heavy industrial environments
• Proven ability to lead a maintenance team and coordinate daily workloads
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Current Australian Driver's Licence
• Full Australian working rights
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and delivering quality workmanship
