Job summary

Workfast is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Mechanical Fitter to join a Waste Management & Recycling Facility in Stapylton, QLD. This hands-on leadership role will see you lead a small maintenance team while performing preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and shutdown work to keep the plant running safely and efficiently.

Ideal candidates will hold a trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner, with proven leadership and a strong background on fixed plant in heavy

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner.
• Proven leadership experience in a Leading Hand or Senior Mechanical Fitter role.
• Strong background on fixed plant in recycling, manufacturing, quarry, mining or heavy industrial settings.
• Ability to lead a maintenance team and coordinate daily workloads.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence and full working rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a small team of Mechanical Fitters and maintenance personnel.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and breakdown repairs on fixed and mobile plant.
• Prioritise maintenance tasks to minimise plant downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate repairs efficiently.
• Work on conveyors, shredders, screens, pumps, gearboxes and other recycling plant equipment.
• Assist with shutdowns, plant upgrades and new equipment installations.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with procedures.
• Mentor apprentices and junior tradespeople where required.
• Communicate effectively with operations to meet maintenance schedules.
