Job summary

Randstad in Sydney’s NSW region is seeking a hands-on Service Technician to service rail and industrial equipment. Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing or assembling heavy mechanical, pneumatic or electrical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and service manuals.
• Safety-first mindset with strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Must pass a pre-employment medical and hold a valid Australian Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, disassemble, overhaul, and reassemble rail equipment (mechanical, pneumatic, electrical).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on client gear.
• Run functional testing, calibration, and commissioning using specialised test rigs and tools.
• Complete service logs, inspection reports and QA paperwork for every job.
• Follow EHS policies and 5S standards in the workshop.

Duties:

• Inspect, disassemble, overhaul, and reassemble mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical rail equipment.
• Perform mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis and troubleshooting on client gear.
• Run functional testing, calibration, and commissioning using specialised test rigs and measuring tools.
• Complete accurate service logs, inspection reports, and quality assurance paperwork for every job.
• Follow strict EHS policies, safe work procedures and maintain workshop 5S standards.

Skills & Experience:

• Relevant Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter, Electrician, Electro-Mechanical, or Diesel Mechanic).
• Proven experience troubleshooting, repairing or assembling heavy mechanical, pneumatic or electrical equipment.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and service manuals.
• A proactive, safety-first mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and hold a valid Australian Driver's License.
