Randstad has partnered with a Leading Rail company in Wetherill Park, NSW, to secure a skilled Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Fitter for a production facility. The role offers a supportive team culture, consistent hours, and engaging technical work across hydraulics, pneumatics, mixers, presses, and conveyors.

Position pays $50+ per hour (Casual), with a highly negotiable rate based on experience, and provides real work-life balance and long-term stability in a growing industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required: Cert III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade / Fitting & Turning) or equivalent.
• Minimum 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Solid fault-finding skills in hydraulics and pneumatics; basic machining and light welding.
• Safe work culture with WHS compliance; forklift and EWP tickets are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily preventative maintenance schedules across all plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical breakdowns in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain, overhaul, and repair hydraulic/pneumatic systems, mixers, presses, and conveyors.
• Perform basic manual machining, component fitting, and light welding/fabrication.
• Promote a safety-first culture adhering to WHS standards and risk assessments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring high plant reliability and minimal downtime through proactive and reactive maintenance.

• Execute daily preventative maintenance schedules across all plant equipment.
• Rapidly troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical breakdowns in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain, overhaul, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mixers, industrial presses, and bulk material conveyors.
• Perform basic manual machining, component fitting, and light welding/fabrication as required.
• Drive a strong safety-first culture by adhering to strict WHS standards and risk assessments.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong trade background, a knack for practical problem-solving, and a reliable work ethic.

• Trade Qualification: Cert III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade / Fitting & Turning) or recognized Equivalent.
• Experience: 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience within a fast-paced manufacturing or heavy industrial facility.
• Technical Skills: Sound fault-finding expertise in hydraulics and pneumatics, alongside basic manual machining and light welding skills.
• Safety First: A continuous commitment to Workplace Health & Safety (WHS).
• Tickets (Desirable): Forklift License (LF) or Elevated Work Platform (EWP) tickets are strong advantages.
