Job summary

BlueScope's Port Kembla Hot Strip Mill is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Officer to join the HSM Team. You will apply your mechanical expertise to maintain and improve down coiler and coil handling equipment, delivering safe, reliable operations and reducing unplanned downtime.

In this role you will supervise maintenance activities, provide technical support, and coach colleagues in root cause analysis and corrective actions, contributing to continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade or tertiary qualifications.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance with focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability.
• Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.
• Experience coordinating maintenance with multiple internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• supervise day-to-day management of plant maintenance activities, including planning, organising, execution and review of maintenance
• coordinate and provide technical support to the maintenance resources within the section
• coach, mentor and develop maintenance personnel in manufacturing excellence principles and process, particularly around root cause and problem analysis and the development and execution of corrective actions
• participate in cost reduction and capital upgrade projects
• respond to the day-to-day Mechanical availability and reliability issues

The Opportunity

OurPort KemblaManufacturing facility is looking for aMechanical Maintenance Officerin ourHot Strip Mill (HSM) Teambased inPort Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers

In this critical role, you will use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes in maintaining and developing the Down Coiler and Coil Handling equipment. You'll implement and improve ourmaintenance strategies to achieve optimum equipment performance and reduction in failures, as a result; your contributions will ensure that this world-class asset delivers safe, efficient and reliable continuous operations.

What Will You Do?

As a Mechanical Maintenance Officer, you will:
