Job summary

BlueScope Steel's Port Kembla site is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Officer for the Hot Strip Mill team. You will maintain the Down Coiler and Coil Handling equipment, implementing maintenance strategies to ensure safe, efficient and reliable continuous operation.

You will supervise day-to-day maintenance activities, provide technical support to the section, and mentor maintenance personnel in root cause analysis and corrective actions, while supporting cost reduction and capital upgrades.

The Opportunity

OurPort KemblaManufacturing facility is looking for aMechanical Maintenance Officerin ourHot Strip Mill (HSM) Teambased inPort Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers

In this critical role, you will use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes in maintaining and developing the Down Coiler and Coil Handling equipment. You'll implement and improve ourmaintenance strategies to achieve optimum equipment performance and reduction in failures, as a result; your contributions will ensure that this world-class asset delivers safe, efficient and reliable continuous operations.

What Will You Do?

As a Mechanical Maintenance Officer, you will:

• supervise the day-to-day management of plant maintenance activities, including planning, organising, execution and review of maintenance
• coordinate and provide technical support to the maintenance resources within the section
• coach, mentor and develop maintenance personnel in manufacturing excellence principles and process, particularly around root cause and problem analysis and the development and execution of corrective actions
• participate in cost reduction and capital upgrade projects
• respond to the day-to-day Mechanical availability and reliability issues

• a Mechanical Trade or tertiary qualifications
• experience working in a similar industry within Mechanical Maintenance, with a focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability
