Job summary

Eriez Australia, based in Victoria, is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Fitter for our workshop. You will assemble, fit, and test mechanical equipment from engineering drawings, ensuring tight tolerances and high quality.

The role focuses on mechanical assembly, fitting, and testing of industrial equipment used across Australia and globally. Trade qualification, hydraulic/pneumatic knowledge, and precise measurement skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner – Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Turning) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems relevant to manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to confidently read engineering drawings.
• Strong experience in mechanical assembly and equipment fitting.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances using precision measuring tools and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit, align, and test mechanical components and equipment to meet engineering specifications and drawings and quality standards.
• Install bearings, shafts, gearboxes, motors and drive systems.
• Align and test mechanical assemblies to engineering specifications.
• Perform routine and breakdown maintenance on workshop machinery, tools, and mechanical systems; fault finding during assembly.
• Operate workshop machinery including mills, drills and lathes for occasional component modification and repair.
• Maintain safe work practices and accurate records while contributing to continuous improvement.
