Job summary

NES Fircroft in Melbourne's northern suburbs is seeking a hands-on mechanical assembler for a full-time workshop role. You will assemble, test, fault-find, and repair mechanical products using hand and power tools.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical trade qualification or strong aptitude, experience with fitters or assemblers, and the ability to read drawings. Monday to Friday, with opportunities for long-term career growth in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification or strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience as a Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Assembler, Automotive Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Toolmaker, or similar trade.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, workshop, maintenance, production, or assembly environments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, build, and test mechanical products and equipment.
• Use hand and power tools to complete assembly and maintenance tasks.
• Inspect, fault-find, and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Repair and rework products where required.
• Read and follow technical drawings, assembly instructions, and procedures.
• Prepare components and sub-assemblies for production.
• Support workshop operations, inventory management, and stock control.
• Maintain production records and update internal systems.
• Identify and escalate quality, safety, or process concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
