Job summary

Air & Gas Industries in Wacol, Queensland, is seeking Mechanical Fitters for heavy vehicle assembly. You will join a team building pressure vessels, trailers and infrastructure with on-the-job training provided. Immediate start with overtime available and opportunities to mentor apprentices.

Role involves assembling components, installing pneumatic/hydraulic controls, testing equipment, and ensuring quality while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (Certificate III) in mechanical fitting or equivalent.
• Experience with heavy vehicle assembly is preferred.
• Basic welding abilities (MIG & TIG) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble heavy vehicle components and sub-assemblies.
• Install pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
• Commission and test completed equipment.
• Work with a team to deliver projects on time and to quality.
• Assist in training apprentices and trade assistants.

Mechanical Fitter - Heavy Vehicle Assembly

Air & Gas Industries, based in Wacol Queensland, is a family-orientated medium sized business that offers a friendly and enjoyable place to work.

Our business has been in operation since 1974. Over this time we have established ourselves to be a leading manufacturer of road tank vehicles, trailers and infrastructure for industries associated with the energy and environmental management sectors.

About the Role

We currently have multiple positions available for Mechanical Fittersbased in our Wacol, Queensland manufacturing facility. An immediate start with overtime available.

You will ideally be able to work with a team to assemble a range of products such as pressure vessels, walkways and ladders, chassis sub-frames, heavy vehicle modifications, transport equipment, and other associated equipment. On-the-job training will be provided.

Reporting to the Workshop Foreman your responsibilities include;

• Assembly of heavy vehicle components
• Pneumatic control system and hydraulics installation
• Commissioning and testing of completed equipment
• Work as part of a team to ensure projects are delivered on time to a high quality
• Complete quality checks as directed on completed equipment
• Assist in training/guidance of apprentices and trade-assistants

Preferred Skills and experience

• Competent in selection and use of fasteners to bolt-up assemblies
• Assembly of screwed and flange piping systems
• Routing and installation of pneumatic controls
• Trade Qualified (Certificate III)
• Supply of basic hand tools suitable for the task required
• Familiarity with heavy vehicle operation
• Basic welding ability in MIG & TIG processes
• Heavy vehicle license
• High Risk work license for Forklift
