Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our Confluence Maintenance team at Sydney Water’s Manly Wastewater Treatment Plant in North Head. You’ll work on planned and reactive maintenance to keep the plant operating reliably.

Reporting to the Site Works Supervisor, you will maintain pumps and associated equipment, participate in an on-call roster, and perform field-based work Monday to Friday with after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade or engineering qualification; water/wastewater experience valued.
• Valid driver's licence required.
• Experience with pump and valve maintenance; strong fault finding skills.
• Able to perform physically demanding field work.
• Effective communication and stakeholder collaboration.
• Dogging certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repairs and servicing of pumps, dosing systems, valves and related equipment.
• Execute planned preventive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs.
• Ensure safety, environmental and operational standards are met while delivering quality maintenance.

Join our Confluence Maintenance team as a Mechanical Fitter, where you'll play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance at Sydney Water’s Manly Wastewater Treatment Plant in North Head.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical trades professional to build a rewarding career in the water industry. The role reports to the Site Works Supervisor, Monday to Friday 7am to 3.30pm. As part of the role, you will also participate in an on-call roster, providing after hours support for one week every 6-8 weeks.

Key Accountabilities

• Carry out maintenance, repairs and servicing including dosing systems, pumps, valves and associated mechanical equipment
• Perform planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, complete repairs, conduct inspections, install equipment and carry out testing to ensure reliability of the plant
• Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental and operational standards while delivering high-quality maintenance outcomes

About You

• Hold a mechanical trade qualification, or an engineering qualification, with experience in the water and wastewater industry being highly regarded
• Driver’s licence
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with pump and valve maintenance, and strong fault finding and trouble shooting skills
• The ability to undertake physically demanding field-based work
• Resilient, adaptable and able to effectively manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively within a small trade team
• Dogging certification or willingness to obtain
