Job summary

Redland City Council is seeking a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter to join the Water team for diverse maintenance across water and wastewater infrastructure on the Redlands Coast.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure safe, compliant operations. The role offers strong earnings through overtime, a stable permanent contract, and a family-friendly 38-hour week.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance, repairs and fault finding, with skills in welding, fabrication and/or machining.
• Ability to work effectively both within a team environment and autonomously in the field.
• Experience in the water, wastewater or industrial maintenance sectors is highly regarded but not essential.

• Undertaking planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant and equipment across Redland Water's water and wastewater networks.
• Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and monitoring the condition of equipment including treatment plant assets, pump stations and water storage infrastructure.
• Operating and maintaining a variety of plant and equipment including cranes, trucks, utes and specialist mechanical equipment.
• Supporting the development of maintenance schedules, work records, safety requirements and asset management activities.
• Contributing to a safe, compliant and environmentally responsible workplace while working collaboratively with team members and contractors.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to deliver practical, fit-for-purpose maintenance solutions.
• Ability to work effectively both within a team environment and autonomously in the field.
• Experience in the water, wastewater or industrial maintenance sectors is highly regarded but not essential.
