Job summary

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong CAD experience; Creo preferred.
• Experience in regulated medical devices is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop components considering performance, manufacturability, and end-user experience.
• Apply design requirements for patients, usability, therapy performance, cost, quality, and assembly.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of designers and engineers.
• Build and evaluate prototypes using additive manufacturing and hands-on fabrication methods.
• Design and conduct testing including verification and validation to meet requirements.
• Document designs and testing accurately.
• Participate in risk management activities including DFMEA.
• Work within ResMed Quality Management System and regulatory requirements.

Mechanical Engineer – Pressure SystemsLet’s talk about the team:The Devices Mechanical Engineering team develops innovative products from concept to production to improve health outcomes for millions of people around the world. Mechanical engineers work within a project team to research, design, develop and verify products that can be manufactured in high volume. This role is in the Pressure Systems Mechanical sub-team, which designs components and subsystems that deliver pressurised air to treat sleep apnoea and other respiratory conditions.Let's talk about responsibilities:As our successful candidate, you will be ready to:Take responsibility for developing components, considering how design decisions impact product performance, manufacturability, and the end-user experience.Understand and apply design requirements relating to patients and customers, usability and accessibility, therapy performance, environmental factors, cost, quality, and design for manufacture and assembly.Work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams, collaborating with industrial designers and engineers from mechanical, electronics, systems, software, and manufacturing disciplines.Build and evaluate prototypes using a range of techniques, including additive manufacturing and hands-on fabrication methods.Design and conduct testing, including verification and validation activities, to demonstrate that designs meet requirements under expected use and operating conditions.Solve design problems using scientific analysis from first principles, simulation tools and empirical methods.Create and maintain accurate documentation of designs and testing.Communicate progress, technical challenges, and risks proactively with project team members and stakeholders.Participate in risk management activities, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating design risks through processes such as DFMEA.Work within Resmed’s Quality Management System and applicable regulatory requirements.Actively develop your technical skills, apply Resmed engineering best practices, and share new learning that enhances team capability and improves ways of working.Let’s talk about qualifications and experience:You will have:A curious, innovative and analytical mindExcellent communication skills and be a team playerA tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering or equivalentExperience with 3D CAD modelling – we use Creo, but experience in any CAD package is acceptableStrong candidates will have at least one of the following:Engineering experience in a product development role, preferably within medical devices or another highly regulated industryParticular interest or experience in fluid dynamics, acoustics, pneumatic systems, pumps/blowers or electro-mechanical systemsExperience with ANSYS CFDExperience designing injection-moulded componentsJoining us is more than saying “yes” to making the world a healthier place.
