Job summary

Sloanebuilt Trailers is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent full-time role in Smeaton Grange, NSW. You will contribute to the mechanical design, CAD modelling, and documentation of trailers and related components, under supervision to ensure customer requirements are met.

The successful candidate will prepare drawings, perform basic calculations, and support manufacturing documentation while collaborating with production teams to resolve issues and drive quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in engineering or related field.
• Australian experience of 1+ years or overseas experience of 3+ years.
• Right to live and work in Australia.

Responsibilities

Position

Working under the supervision and guidance of an experienced engineer, the Mechanical Design Engineer will:

• Assist with the mechanical design and development of trailers, rigid bodies and associated components to meet customer requirements.
• Prepare and update 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings and assembly drawings for review and approval.
• Carry out basic engineering calculations to support component selection and design decisions, applying principles of mechanics and materials.
• Assist with preparing bills of materials, component specifications and other documentation required for manufacturing and assembly.
• Support product testing and design verification by collecting measurements, recording results and preparing information for engineering review.
• Work with production staff to identify design, fitment and assembly issues and assist with developing practical solutions.
• Assist with improvements to product designs and manufacturing methods to support quality, safety and production efficiency.
• Apply relevant engineering standards, regulatory requirements and company procedures when preparing designs and documentation, seeking guidance where required.
• Assist with investigating component or product issues and documenting proposed changes for review and approval.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, CAD files, drawing revisions and product information in accordance with company procedures.
• Assist with responding to technical questions from production staff and other departments, referring matters requiring further assessment to the supervising engineer.
• Develop professional and technical knowledge through on-the-job training, relevant courses and review of technical publications and standards.
• Work collaboratively with the engineering and production teams and complete other duties appropriate to the role and level of experience.

The Candidate

The successful candidate must be someone who prides themselves in producing high quality work with good interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude. They must be capable of multitasking, organising tasks and working unsupervised.

Remuneration

$75,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.

Remuneration will reflect current market conditions and industry award rates. Remuneration can be negotiated with the successful applicant at the interview stage.
