Job summary

Cleared ICT in Melbourne is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to drive design through production for defence-related mechanical systems. The role covers concept through prototype to production and involves collaboration with production, quality, and engineering teams.

The successful candidate will apply SolidWorks, 3D CAD, and 2D drawings to create robust BOMs, participate in design reviews, and support verification and validation activities while meeting stringent DEFENCE requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have a Mechanical engineering degree qualification with a strong understanding of design.
• Experience working within a production environment.
• LEAN practices experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of all relevant documents
• Design Mechanical systems from initial concept through to production
• Support design reviews, engineering change requests and compliance documentation
• Apply LEAN practices to improve plant efficiency
• Design custom injection mould tools
• Assist the Production team with test equipment, maintenance and technical support.
• Assist the Quality team with product fault diagnosis and repair.
• Assist the Engineering team with verification and validation test activities.

Job description

Are you a Mechanical Engineer with direct experience with production and design for manufacturing? We currently have a contract opportunity based in West Melbourne. In this role you will work with an industry leader on the design, manufacture and production of cutting edge mechanical systems being developed to direct enhance capability across Defence.

You will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems from initial concept through to prototype and production.

This role is in the Defence domain but doesn't require you to hold a current security clearance.

Responsibilities
