Job summary

Edged Group National Pty Ltd in Windsor NSW is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our South Windsor team. Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (essential).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
• Experience designing fabricated steel structures, weldments and mechanical assemblies.
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Experience developing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with management and production leading hands to understand project requirements, manufacturing constraints and design objectives.
• Designing, refining and improving Edged Group's range of waste and recycling equipment.
• Developing new products and equipment from concept through to manufacture.
• Creating and maintaining 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Producing accurate manufacturing, fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Preparing site layout drawings, equipment arrangement drawings and concept designs to support customer proposals, quotations and project delivery.
• Generating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
• Supporting production teams with technical guidance and resolving design or manufacturing issues.
• Liaising with suppliers regarding components, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Participating in product development, testing and design validation.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, standardisation and manufacturing efficiency.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our South Windsor team.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who understands not only how to design equipment, but how to develop practical solutions that can be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively. Working closely with management, production and suppliers, you will play a key role in both product improvement and new equipment development.

About the role

Reporting to the Managing Director, your responsibilities will include:

• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and machinery safety requirements
