Job summary

Coates Albert Park workshop in Melbourne is seeking a skilled mechanic to maintain our fleet of hire equipment, focusing on safety, reliability and uptime for customers. You'll perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics and basic electrical systems, with a Monday–Friday 7am start and attractive hourly rates including overtime penalties.

Qualifications

• Qualified diesel/mechanical tradesperson with strong diagnostic and repair skills.
• Experience with diesel and petrol engines; hydraulics, pneumatics and basic 12-volt electrical systems.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance and maintain accurate service records.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, servicing and overhauls on a range of plant and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Minimise equipment downtime through proactive maintenance and efficient repairs.

Job description

As a mechanic based at Coates Albert Park workshop, you'll play a key role in keeping our fleet of hire equipment safe, reliable, and ready for our customers.

We value transferable skills and welcome applications from qualified diesel fitters, mechanics, automotive technicians, agricultural mechanics and heavy vehicle technicians looking to apply their experience in a new industry.

Your typical day will focus on

• Performing preventative maintenance, servicing and overhauls on a range of plant and equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
• Maintaining accurate service and repair records
• Minimising equipment downtime through proactive maintenance and efficient repairs

What you'll bring to the role

• Relevant mechanical trade qualification
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic 12-volt electrical systems
• Troubleshooting, diagnostic and preventative maintenance experience
• Current driver's licence (HC or HR beneficial but not required)
• Forklift and EWP tickets (beneficial but not required)
