Job summary

Green Star Food Service is seeking a proactive New Product Developer / Food Technologist to lead the creation and improvement of meat-based products from concept to launch. This role requires strong technical knowledge of meat processing, food safety, and quality standards, along with a commercial mindset to meet evolving consumer and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Technology, Food Science, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of product development experience in the meat or protein manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of meat science, processing methods, and ingredient functionality.
• Solid understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP, and quality systems.
• Experience working in both retail and food service product environments.
• Excellent project management and documentation skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to develop products aligned with customer and market expectations.
• Passion for food innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Product Development: Design and develop innovative meat products for retail and food service.
• Translate market insights and customer briefs into commercially viable concepts.
• Create samples and prototypes using industry-appropriate equipment and processes.
• Technical & Manufacturing Integration: Collaborate closely with production teams to scale products from bench to factory.
• Ensure products are designed for efficient manufacturing while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Support trials and commissioning of new products in the production environment.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure all new products meet internal standards and external regulatory requirements for food safety and quality.
• Maintain accurate product specifications, ingredient declarations, and nutritional information.
• Market Understanding & Innovation: Stay informed on food trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies in the meat sector.
• Provide input into the product strategy and innovation pipeline.
• Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with market needs.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside Sales, Marketing, Procurement, and QA teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Participate in presentations and product tastings with clients and internal decision-makers.
