ISS is seeking an AI Developer to turn cutting-edge AI ideas into scalable, secure business solutions. You’ll design, build and deploy AI agents, copilots, and intelligent applications across teams. The role focuses on delivering practical results with governance and responsible AI in mind.

Based in Melbourne or Sydney, you’ll work with enterprise platforms—Azure AI, Copilot Studio, Power Platform—and modern programming with Python and SQL to meet real business needs and drive measurable value.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and deploying AI, automation, data or intelligent software solutions in a commercial environment.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience integrating applications and enterprise systems through APIs and structured data interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Power Platform or similar.
• Solid understanding of generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures and AI agent development.
• Ability to translate complex business challenges into secure, user-focused technical solutions.
• Experience applying software development best practices, including source control, testing, deployment and production support.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in AI, CS, SE, Data Science or IT.

Responsibilities

AI Developer – Shape the Future of AI at ISS

Are you passionate about turning cutting-edge AI technologies into practical business solutions? ISS is seeking an AI Developer to join our AI Centre of Excellence, where you'll play a key role in transforming innovative ideas into scalable, secure and impactful AI solutions that deliver real business value.

This role will be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our Macquarie Park office in Sydney (dependent on where you live).

Working across business and technology teams, you'll design, build and deploy AI agents, copilots, intelligent applications and automation solutions that enhance the way ISS operates for our customers, employees and stakeholders.

About the Role

As an AI Developer, you will be responsible for progressing AI opportunities from concept through to pilot, deployment and scale. You'll leverage enterprise-approved AI platforms and technologies to build solutions that are practical, reliable, secure and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy AI agents, copilots, intelligent applications and automated workflows.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable AI solutions.
• Build solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Azure AI Services, Azure AI Foundry, Python, SQL and APIs.
• Develop integrations between AI solutions, enterprise systems and business data sources.
• Configure prompts, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns, orchestration logic and governance controls.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience developing and deploying AI, automation, data or intelligent software solutions in a commercial environment.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience integrating applications and enterprise systems through APIs and structured data interfaces.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Power Platform or similar enterprise AI platforms.
• Solid understanding of generative AI, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, RAG architectures and AI agent development.
• Ability to translate complex business challenges into secure, user‑focused technical solutions.
• Experience applying software development best practices, including source control, testing, deployment and production support.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in AI, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology or equivalent industry experience.

Desirable

• Experience with Azure OpenAI, vector databases, Semantic Kernel or AI orchestration frameworks.
• Exposure to enterprise governance, cybersecurity, privacy or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, cloud monitoring, observability, cost optimisation and scalable solution architecture.
