Job summary

Port of Townsville Limited is seeking an entry-level Operator/Labourer to support the Maintenance team in keeping port infrastructure and assets in good condition. The role offers training to progress to higher operator levels and contributes to the safe, efficient operation of Port facilities.

The annual salary ranges from 72,909 to 83,798 AUD (excluding superannuation). A hands-on role, it requires adherence to safety procedures and the ability to handle physical tasks on site.

Qualifications

• Requires High School certificate or equivalent.
• Previous exposure to marine infrastructure maintenance is desirable.
• Experience operating construction and maintenance plant and equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation of the port’s floating plant and equipment; mobile plant and machinery.
• Conduct basic civil/maintenance work on port plant, equipment and services.
• Maintain the port’s wharves and equipment, boat ramps, moorings and navigational leads.
• Operate hand tools and power tools in line with training and competency.
• Provide records of time and materials and comply with maintenance schedules.
