Job summary

Defence Australia’s Maritime Warfare Centre seeks an engineer to help develop and enhance systems that prepare naval platforms for conflict. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to translate capability needs into practical solutions and contribute to testing and evaluation activities.

The role involves hands-on engagement, developing use cases for future maritime ranges, supporting national and multinational exercises, and applying engineering skills to improve warfighting capability.

Qualifications

• Experience in systems engineering, capability development, or a maritime warfare domain is highly regarded.
• Interest in supporting Navy and applying engineering to improve warfighting capability.
• Ability to develop use cases for future maritime ranges and target systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of systems that support minimising undersea ships signatures and performance testing of platforms & weapon systems.
• Analyse, evaluate and provide independent technical advice on capability proposals.
• Engage with Defence, industry and government to align maritime range capabilities with operational requirements.
• Define, implement, and maintain corporate knowledge management frameworks and databases in support of a Quality Management System.
• Travel to military test and training ranges across Australia to support planning and execution of exercises and tests.
