Job summary

DPIRD is seeking a Marine Park Officer in Taylors Beach to support planning, implementation and day-to-day management of NSW marine protected areas. You will help develop management plans, conduct field inspections by boat and land, and process authorisations.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of the marine environment, experience in environmental management, strong written communications, and the ability to engage with Traditional Custodians and communities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the marine environment and MPAs.
• Experience in environmental or protected area management.
• Ability to engage with Traditional Custodians, government agencies and communities.
• Strong written communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret environmental legislation and policies.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and day-to-day management of NSW marine protected areas.
• Contribute to management plans, rules and conservation initiatives.
• Undertake environmental assessments and site inspections by boat and on land.
• Administer authorisation, referral and consent processes.
• Prepare reports, recommendations and briefing materials.
• Assist with procurement, vessel operations and fieldwork.
