Job summary

The Royal Geelong Yacht Club on the Geelong waterfront is seeking a reliable Marina Hand to support day-to-day marina operations, maintenance and customer service. This hands-on role is suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work and has an interest in boating.

You'll work with the Marina Manager, gain experience toward a Marina Assistant role, and assist with vessel movements, hull maintenance and facility upkeep.

Qualifications

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• General boating knowledge and rope splicing skills.
• Interest in recreational sailing and boating.
• Practical approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
• Current Victorian Recreational Boat Operator Licence and driver's licence.
• Ability to work weekends on a rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness, presentation and general upkeep of the marina, boatyard and surrounding facilities.
• Conduct regular checks of marina arms to ensure vessels are secure and identify hazards.
• Assist members and visitors with vessel movements into and out of berths.
• Assist with slipping boats in and out of the water and towing vessels to and from the marina.
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of marina facilities and Club assets.
• Check safety equipment around the marina and report any issues requiring attention.
• Provide fuel services to members and guests, ensuring safe handling and accurate recording of sales.
• Assist with the preparation, general upkeep and maintenance of Club-owned vessels, including safety and support boats.
