Job summary

Isadraulics, part of the Questas Group, seeks a trade‑qualified Machinist for its Mount Isa workshop. You will work on diverse hydraulic repair tasks, machining and manufacturing components for mining and heavy equipment, with a strong emphasis on quality workmanship and practical problem solving.

The role involves using manual lathes and milling machines, honing cylinders, and supporting repairs with accuracy-driven measurements. A capable, independent mindset and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes, milling machines and other workshop equipment.
• Machine, repair and manufacture hydraulic components.
• Perform cylinder honing and related repair work.
• Produce replacement parts from drawings or samples.
• Support hydraulic cylinder repairs including re-rod and re-barrel work.
• Use precision measuring tools to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Collaborate with a small team to deliver reliable repair solutions.

About the Opportunity

Isadraulics

Isadraulics is looking for a trade-qualified Machinist to join our established workshop team in Mount Isa.

This isn't a repetitive production machining role. You'll be working across a variety of machining and hydraulic repair tasks, manufacturing and restoring components used in demanding industrial and mining applications.

With approximately 90% of our work supporting the mining industry, you'll have the opportunity to apply your skills to a diverse range of equipment and repair challenges.

You'll be joining a close-knit team of around 25 people, where practical experience, teamwork and quality workmanship are valued.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operating manual lathes, milling machines and other workshop equipment
• Machining, repairing and manufacturing hydraulic components
• Performing cylinder honing and associated repair work
• Manufacturing replacement parts from engineering drawings or existing samples
• Supporting hydraulic cylinder repairs, including re-rod and re-barrel work
• Using precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and quality
• Working alongside the workshop team to deliver safe, practical and reliable repair solutions

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a capable, hands-on Machinist with strong manual machining skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• A relevant trade qualification in machining or a related discipline
• Proven experience operating manual lathes and milling machines
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacture components from samples
• Confidence working with precision measuring equipment and machining tolerances
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
• Current Australian working rights

Experience with hydraulic cylinder repairs, cylinder honing, fabrication, re-rods or re-barrels would be highly regarded.

You don't necessarily need to come from a hydraulics background. If you've got strong manual machining skills and is willing to learn, we'd still be interested in hearing from you.
