Job summary

Hurstville City Council seeks a qualified professional to lead planning and delivery of complex infrastructure and capital works from the Civic Centre in Hurstville CBD. The role demands senior project management, strong financial governance and outstanding stakeholder engagement.

The position requires a tertiary qualification in civil engineering or related discipline, proven leadership of large teams, and a robust understanding of governance and risk in a public sector environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, project management, environmental management or related discipline, with substantial professional experience.
• Significant experience leading planning and delivery of complex infrastructure and capital works programs.
• Experience in project and program management, procurement, construction delivery and contract administration.
• Strong technical understanding of civil infrastructure planning, design, construction and asset handover.
• Strong financial management experience including capital budgets, forecasting and reporting.
• Leadership of multidisciplinary teams delivering technical, project, operational and environmental services.
• Ability to identify and manage risks across project, commercial, operational, environmental and WHS domains.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reports and briefings.
• Understanding of governance, probity, accountability and risk in public sector.
• Current Class C Driver Licence

What We Are Looking For

• Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, project management, environmental management or a closely related discipline, together with substantial relevant professional experience


• Significant experience leading the planning and delivery of complex infrastructure and capital works programs


• Demonstrated experience in project and program management, procurement, construction delivery and contract administration


• Strong technical understanding of civil infrastructure planning, design, construction and asset handover


• Demonstrated financial management experience, including significant capital budgets, forecasting and performance reporting


• Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams delivering technical, project, operational and environmental services


• Demonstrated ability to identify and manage project, commercial, operational, environmental and WHS risks


• Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, stakeholder engagement and decision-making capability


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including high-quality reports, briefings and recommendations


• Demonstrated understanding of governance, probity, accountability and risk management requirements in a public-sector or similarly regulated environment


• Current Class C Driver Licence
