Job summary

NSW Department of Customer Service seeks a Manager Cyber Governance and Compliance to lead policy-aligned governance frameworks and drive resilience across whole-of-government environments. You will provide strategic guidance, oversee operating models, and coordinate reporting to improve accountability and visibility of cyber risk and compliance.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in cyber/IT and Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Information Security Compliance, IT Governance, or equivalent contemporary industry experience.
  • Australian citizen with ability to obtain NV1 security clearance and pass probity checks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and continuous improvement of cyber governance and compliance frameworks, policies and practices.
  • Provide interpretation and guidance on cyber governance and compliance obligations across complex environments.
  • Establish and oversee governance and compliance operating models for effective outcomes.
  • Provide strategic advice on governance posture and prioritize improvement activities.
  • Oversee governance and compliance reporting to deliver visibility of performance and trends.
  • Coordinate governance activities across enterprise environments for alignment with obligations.
  • Support whole-of-government for cyber governance and compliance through guidance and capability uplift.
  • Build strategic stakeholder relationships to strengthen accountability and outcomes.

Job description


  • Clerk Grade 11/12 - $154,231 to $178,369 base p/a plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

  • Sydney CBD location, with hybrid working conditions and a 50% office presence required. Flexible working arrangements may be available in line with the DCS Flexible Working Policy.

  • Ongoing, full-time (35hpw)


About the role

We are currently seeking a Manager Cyber Governance and Compliance to work within the Uplift, Advisory and Engagement directorate to provide strategic cyber governance and compliance leadership and support through policy-aligned frameworks, guidance, reporting and oversight practices to promote consistent decision-making, accountability, transparency and cyber resilience across whole-of-government and internal environments.


Key responsibilities


  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of cyber governance and compliance frameworks, policies and practices to ensure alignment with evolving obligations and strengthen accountability, transparency and resilience.

  • Provide authoritative interpretation and guidance on cyber governance and compliance obligations to enable consistent and proportionate application across complex organisational and whole-of government environments.

  • Establish and oversee governance and compliance operating models to ensure effective implementation, monitoring and assurance of compliance outcomes.

  • Provide strategic advice on governance and compliance posture to inform decision-making, identify systemic issues and gaps, and guide prioritisation of improvement activities.

  • Oversee the provision of governance and compliance reporting and insights to deliver clear visibility of performance, trends and emerging issues.

  • Coordinate and monitor governance and compliance activities across enterprise environments to ensure alignment with organisational obligations and consistent implementation of requirements.

  • Provide whole-of-government support for cyber governance and compliance through guidance, coordination, reporting and capability uplift activities to promote consistent and effective implementation of cyber security obligations.

  • Build and sustain strategic stakeholder relationships and partnerships to influence alignment, strengthen accountability, and support effective governance and compliance outcomes.


Essential requirements


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Information Security Compliance, IT Governance, or a related discipline, or equivalent contemporary industry experience.

  • Must be an Australian Citizen with an ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1(NV1) or higher, and willingness to undergo a criminal history and identity verification and ongoing probity checks as a condition of employment.

Uplift, Advisory & Engagement (UA&E) delivers operational, strategic and policy support to Cyber Security NSW and the wider NSW Government on cyber security matters. UA&E uplifts the cyber security posture through tailored advice, security assessments and other initiatives to drive a cyber-aware culture.

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $154,231 base plus superannuation
