Job summary

Civmec Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd in Western Australia is seeking a seasoned Commercial Manager to lead a major project, driving commercial success, client relationships and seamless delivery. You will be a key member of the project management team, able to manage risk and contractual obligations with a pragmatic approach across Civmec's projects.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or similar field.
• Prior experience in a similar lead commercial role focusing on successful project outcomes.
• At least 10 years’ experience in the delivery of major projects, including leadership of commercial teams on mega-projects exceeding AUD 200M.
• Strong, clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in Western Australia FIFO or DIDO projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead head contract compliance, including the timely preparation and submission of notices, claims, and other contractual communications.
• Drive the resolution and closeout of project variations, extensions of time, and remeasurement claims, ensuring commercial outcomes are maximised.
• Manage the procurement and engagement of suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring risk mitigation strategies are embedded in contract formation and execution.
• Provide contract guidance and mentoring to the project team, supporting their understanding of commercial risks and compliance requirements under both head contracts and subcontracts.
• Manage cashflow, quantity remeasurement processes and progress claims.
• Oversee project cost tracking and reporting, including monthly forecasts, cash flow analysis, and supplier liability reporting.
• Ensure robust systems and processes are in place to manage and recover variations and contract adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform and oversee complex commercial tasks requiring strategic judgement and high-level contractual expertise.
• Provide effective leadership and mentorship to the project commercial team, fostering a high-performance culture and driving the efficient resolution of cross-functional issues.

Civmec is expanding its Commercial team to tackle exciting upcoming projects. We're looking for a seasoned Commercial Manager to lead one of our recently secured projects, where you will drive commercial success, foster strong client relationships, and ensure seamless project delivery.

You will be a key member of the project management team with the opportunity for development and long-term career growth. This opportunity will allow you to add value to the team by using your experience and commercial acumen to drive commercial and project outcomes whilst managing key relationships with project stakeholders. You will enjoy a proactive and pragmatic approach in the management of risk, contractual obligations and relationships between Civmec and its clients and suppliers. This role offers flexibility for both FIFO and Henderson-based arrangements.

The Role

About You

Your experience should include the following:
