Job summary

Troocoo Pty is partnering with a well-regarded Queensland insurer to appoint an experienced leader into its claims function. You’ll head a team of five to six Claims Leaders, focusing on leadership, capability building, and guiding them through change.

You’ll engage with employers and contribute to strategy across the claims function, using data to drive performance and collaborating with a senior leadership group in a 50/50 hybrid model from the Brisbane CBD office.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading team leaders or managers across multiple teams.
• Background in workers compensation, personal injury, liability or claims management in a large insurer or organisation.
• Track record of leading teams through significant change and managing change fatigue.
• Commercial, performance-focused mindset with empathy for people and customers.
• Confidence engaging with employers and senior stakeholders.

The role

You’ll lead a team of five to six Claims Leaders within a liability-focused claims area. Your leaders already bring strong technical expertise, so your focus is on leadership: lifting their capability, building a high-performing culture and helping them lead their own teams confidently through change. You’ll also engage directly with employers and contribute to strategy across the claims function.

• Coaching and developing your Claims Leaders so they can get the best from their teams
• Translating business decisions into clear direction your leaders can take back to their teams
• Leading through change with empathy, while keeping your teams focused on performance and outcomes
• Building trusted relationships with employers and key stakeholders
• Using data and insights to drive performance and identify where to focus next
• Working alongside a collaborative senior leadership group that genuinely backs each other

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an established leader of leaders. You’ll bring:

• Proven experience leading team leaders or managers, ideally across multiple teams
• A background in workers compensation, personal injury, liability or claims management within a large insurer, scheme or organisation (government backgrounds with strong commercial exposure will also be considered)
• A track record of leading teams through significant change and managing change fatigue
• A commercial, performance-focused mindset, balanced with genuine empathy for your people and customers
• Confidence engaging with employers and senior stakeholders
