Job summary

City of Unley in Adelaide is seeking a Senior Manager City Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership across civil infrastructure, urban forest, open space and waste services. You will oversee a large workforce, drive asset management, procurement and contract delivery, and contribute to governance and risk management while aligning with council objectives.

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in business management, civil engineering, construction management, natural resource management or a related discipline.
• Senior leadership experience in complex operational environments, with the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in operational service delivery, asset management, procurement, contract management and budget oversight.
• Strong experience leading workforce initiatives, employee relations and organisational change.

Responsibilities

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager City Infrastructure, the Manager City Operations provides strategic and operational leadership across a broad portfolio of essential community services and maintenance programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the City's operational services are delivered safely, efficiently and sustainably while meeting community expectations and Council objectives.

Leading a large and diverse workforce, you will oversee the delivery of:

• Civil infrastructure maintenance programs
• Urban forest, arboriculture and horticulture services
• Open space and recreational asset maintenance
• Rapid response and cleansing services
• Waste management operations and strategic waste initiatives
• Fleet, plant and equipment management
• Contracted service delivery and procurement activities

As a member of the Senior Leadership Group, you will contribute to organisational strategy, workforce planning, risk management, business continuity, industrial relations and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with Elected Members, community groups, contractors, government agencies and key stakeholders to deliver outstanding service outcomes for the City of Unley community.
