Job summary

City of Unley is seeking a dynamic Manager City Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership for civil infrastructure maintenance, urban forestry, open space, waste, and fleet management in Unley, SA. You will guide a large workforce to deliver high‑quality services that align with Council objectives and community expectations.

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in business management, civil engineering, construction management, natural resource management or a related discipline.
• Proven senior leadership experience in complex operational environments, with the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in operational service delivery, asset management, procurement, contract management and budget oversight.
• Strong experience leading workforce initiatives, employee relations and organisational change.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Sound knowledge of governance, risk management, compliance and strategic service planning.
• A commitment to workplace safety, employee wellbeing and high-quality customer service.
• Strategic thinking, sound judgement and a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across civil infrastructure maintenance and open space services.
• Oversee waste management operations, fleet, plant and equipment management, and contract delivery.
• Lead procurement, contractor management and budget oversight to meet council objectives.
• Drive safety, governance, risk management and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
• Engage with Elected Members, community groups and stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
