Job summary

NSW Department of Education in Sydney is seeking an experienced manager to oversee capital works delivery within School Infrastructure. You will lead a team, provide strategic advice to the Director of Asset Management, and manage financial planning and the budgeting for major projects.

The role requires strong leadership, procurement guidance, and the ability to coordinate across departments to ensure timely delivery of upgrades and new builds for NSW public schools.

About School Infrastructure

School Infrastructure (SI) is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high-quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

About the role

  • Manage the delivery of capital works projects to schools within the Regional Asset Management Office
  • Provide strategic and specialised advice and support to the Director of Asset Management
  • Manage the financial planning and budgeting and oversee the planning of capital works projects
  • Lead and manage a team of Group Leaders and Senior Asset Services Officers to implement the timely delivery of minor capital works projects including construction, handover and post construction phases
  • Develop a local system for the management of leasing and licencing by other users of departmental facilities and provide guidance and high-level advice in relation to procurement of children’s services, markets and other users

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in similar Management role within Trades and Construction.
  • Exposure to financial planning, budget management and facilities management policies.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead consultations and negotiations, providing strategic advice and offering solutions, often within short timeframes, to ensure program delivery targets are met.
  • Current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to travel across the assigned Asset Management Unit of Sydney Metro
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment.
