Job summary

NSW Department of Education is seeking a Senior Asset Services Officer (Client-Side Project Manager) to lead end-to-end minor capital and maintenance works across live school environments. You will coordinate stakeholders, prepare briefs and cost estimates, and manage procurement and contractor performance to deliver quality education facilities.

The role requires strong coordination and reporting skills, a focus on value for money and outcomes across the assets lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction project/contract/site management.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Commitment to value for money and lifecycle outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal Education Policy and Partnerships with NSW AECG.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and coordinating stakeholders, including facilitating project and stakeholder meetings, preparing agendas, recording actions, and providing clear and accurate project reporting.
  • Developing project briefs, scopes of work, cost estimates and design documentation that align with stakeholder expectations, operational requirements and approved budget parameters.
  • Assessing and determining statutory planning and approval pathways, including coordinating input from internal subject matter experts and external consultants.
  • Management of procurement activities and development of contract documentation
  • Managing contracts and contractor performance throughout construction and post completion periods.
  • Maintaining accurate project records, capturing relevant data and reporting on project activities, progress, risks and outcomes.

About School Infrastructure | Asset Management Division

School Infrastructure (SI) is delivering the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW. Our mission is to ensure every school-aged child has access to high-quality education facilities at their local public school. This includes new buildings, major upgrades, and long-term maintenance strategies.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of minor capital and maintenance works of varying scope and complexity within live and dynamic school environments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and coordinating stakeholders, including facilitating project and stakeholder meetings, preparing agendas, recording actions, and providing clear and accurate project reporting.

About you

  • Candidates will benefit from having a demonstrated experience within the construction sector, in particular contract, project, or site management.
  • Self-motivated individual that works well within a team environment but can work independently.
  • Invested in achieving value for money and positive outcomes throughout a project and an assets lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Current NSW Driver’s License and ability to travel across the Hunter Central Coast Region.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
  • Validated Working with Children’s Certificate
