Role Description The Manager Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Albury-Wodonga area. This role oversees a portfolio of business and individual clients, managing the preparation and review of financial statements, tax returns, and compliance obligations. The Manager Accountant leads and mentors team members, allocates work, and ensures engagements are completed accurately, on time, and in line with professional standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include providing business advisory support, interpreting financial data, advising on tax and structuring matters, and collaborating with directors on client strategies. The role also involves building strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to enhance service, and contributing to continuous improvement of internal processes and workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting and taxation skills, including experience with financial statement preparation, tax compliance, and relevant accounting standards.
• Business advisory and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information, support planning and budgeting, and provide clear, practical recommendations.
• Leadership and people management capabilities, including mentoring team members, reviewing work, and managing deadlines and workload across multiple engagements.
• Client service and communication skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships, explain complex concepts in accessible language, and respond promptly to client needs.
• Proficiency with accounting and practice management software, strong Excel skills, and comfort working with digital tools and cloud-based systems.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; completion or progress toward CA or CPA membership is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in public practice accounting, ideally within a regional or small-to-medium firm environment.
• High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a close-knit team.
