Catalyst Accounting and Tax in Warwick is seeking a Senior Accountant who takes ownership of their work, builds strong client relationships, and mentors junior team members. You will service C and D class clients across taxation and business advisory services.

You will be trained by senior staff to develop interpersonal and selling skills, and will report to the Senior Client Manager with the goal of ascending to Senior Client Manager as the business grows.

Qualifications

  • Accounting degree or equivalent completed.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
  • Experience with tax preparation and advisory.
  • Familiarity with Xero and related tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Client Manager in managing and nurturing client relationships, addressing client enquiries, and providing timely and accurate information.
  • See clients face to face, initially under supervision, to help them with completing individual tax returns, client meetings (Annual General Meetings).
  • Preparing emails and speaking with clients over the phone regarding enquiries.
  • Reviewing Tax Planning figures and analysis.
  • Prepare Financial Statements and tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
  • Plan work and goals ahead.
  • Prepare jobs to budget and timeframe with set Productivity KPI's.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who wants to take ownership of their work, build strong relationships with clients, support and develop junior team members, and become an important part of a growing regional accounting practice.

This role is for an accountant with ambition who would be looking after our C and D class clients, servicing them in all areas of taxation and business advisory services. You will be trained by your Senior Client Manager in interpersonal and selling skills, and work with your Senior Production Manager who will help train you in technical knowledge and review your work. You will report to the Senior Client Manager, with an ultimate goal of becoming a Senior Client Manager as the business grows.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist the Senior Client Manager in managing and nurturing client relationships, addressing client enquiries, and providing timely and accurate information.
  • See clients face to face, initially under supervision, to help them with completing individual tax returns, client meetings (Annual General Meetings)
  • Preparing emails and speaking with clients over the phone regarding enquiries

About you
  • High level of interpersonal communication skills
  • Results oriented and outcomes driven with great people skills and having fun with a great team
  • Natural people person who loves working with and solving client problems
  • Commenced or finalised Accounting Degree or equivalent
  • High level of technical knowledge and ability to apply it to finalise tax jobs for clients
  • Experience with QuickBooks, MYOB Accounting, Xero Accounting (90% of clients are on Xero), Xero Practice Manager, and Microsoft Product
  • Knowledge of non-commercial loss rules, Division 7A loans, individual tax claims, small business advice (WorkCover, Stamp Duty, Payroll tax, FBT), CGT SBE Business Concessions, depreciation rules, SGC Obligations, franking accounts and dividend imputation system, and tax minimisation strategies (ideal but not a necessity)
