Job summary

St John of God Ballarat Hospital is seeking a Management and Reporting Accountant to support financial performance across Ballarat and Warrnambool Hospitals. Based in Ballarat, you will deliver management accounting, KPI insights and timely reporting for informed decision-making.

You will develop forecasts, budgets and financial models, working with leadership and Shared Services to drive improvements and high-quality financial support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Finance or Commerce or related discipline.
• Strong accounting/finance knowledge with month-end reporting experience.
• Healthcare experience and progress towards CA/CPA are desirable.
• Excellent Excel/Oracle/PowerPoint skills and ability to present financial information clearly.

**St John of God Ballarat Hospital** is one of Victoria’s premier regional private hospitals providing an extensive range of health care services.With 256 beds, our dedicated team of medical specialists and experienced caregivers deliver compassionate care in a welcoming modern facility.Our services include maternity, cardiology, oncology, day surgery, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, and emergency care.**About the role**Reporting to the Director of Finance, the **Management and Reporting Accountant** plays a key role in supporting the financial performance of both St John of God Ballarat and St John of God Warrnambool Hospitals. Based at St John of God Ballarat Hospital, you will work closely with the leadership team to deliver accurate, timely and insightful management accounting services that support informed decision-making and contribute to the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.You will be responsible for the development and delivery of performance reporting, forecasting, budgeting and trend analysis, ensuring managers have access to meaningful financial information and KPI insights. As a key liaison with Group Shared Services, you will foster strong working relationships to ensure high-quality financial support and service delivery across the Division.We are seeking a proactive, pragmatic and resourceful professional who can work autonomously, exercise sound judgement, and identify practical solutions to business challenges. You will be comfortable taking initiative, managing competing priorities, and adapting to changing circumstances within a dynamic healthcare environment.The role is offered on a 12-month, fixed-term, part-time basis, working 30.4 hours per week.**Key responsibilities**Working closely with Divisional Management and Senior Leadership teams, this role supports the Finance Director in delivering the following key responsibilities:* Analyse key financial and operational metrics, providing meaningful insights to support business performance.* Develop forecasts, financial models, and projections to support planning and informed decision-making.* Prepare and deliver accurate weekly and monthly management reports, KPI analysis, and performance reporting.* Partner with leaders and stakeholders across the hospital to understand business drivers and support strategic objectives.* Contribute to budgeting, business planning, month-end processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.* Build financial capability across the organisation through stakeholder support, training, and collaboration with Shared Services. **Your skills and experience**To be successful in this role, you will hold tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline and possess a strong understanding of accounting and finance principles, including month-end reporting processes. You will be highly analytical, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, develop meaningful performance insights, and support fact-based decision-making across the organisation.You are an effective communicator and relationship builder, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels and presenting financial information in a clear and influential manner. With strong technical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel, Oracle, and PowerPoint, you will bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and positive change.
