Job summary

Fortescue's Perth office is seeking a Finance Business Partnering professional for the Capital Projects portfolio on a 12‑month secondment. You will manage day-to-day project accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and collaborate with the Controls team and project stakeholders to drive timely insights.

Key duties include month-end close, cash forecasting oversight, and driver-based variance analysis, with a focus on accurate accounting in line with Group policies and a strong commitment to

Qualifications

  • Experience in management accounting roles and close collaboration with project teams.
  • CPA/CA qualification or active study.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

Responsibilities

  • Close monthly and ensure accuracy across multiple projects.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for capital projects.
  • Provide financial support to project managers and cost control.
  • Deliver driver-based variance analysis for business decisions.
  • Identify and implement finance process improvements.
  • Ensure accounting complies with Group policies and promote safety.

Job description

Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue's Perth office - located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.


Roster: Monday to Friday, with flexible work arrangements available.


Reporting directly to the Finance Business Partnering Manager of Fortescue's Capital Projects portfolio, this role will be primarily focussed on day-to-day project accounting, budgeting and forecasting, as well as working closely with the Controls' team & other project stakeholders.


  • 12 month Secondment **

Key Responsibilities


  • Delivery accurate and timely completion of month end close activities for various projects across multiple departments.

  • Deliver quarterly forecast and annual budget for the Fortescue capital projects portfolio, including oversight of project cash forecasting.

  • Provide finance support to project managers, cost control and business leads, including insightful driver-based analysis.

  • Continually identify and deliver finance process and system improvement initiatives working in close collaboration with the wider finance team.

  • Providing comprehensive analysis and driver-based cost variance analysis to support business decisions

  • Ensure the accuracy of accounting in accordance with Group Accounting Policies.

  • Actively promote a safe working environment.


Qualifications And Experience


  • Demonstrated experience in Management Accounting roles.

  • Finance or Commercial degree as well as CPA or CA qualifications (or working towards)

  • Collaborative team player, proactive problem solver and passion towards learning new systems or financial tools

  • Strong analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • High degree of attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • SAP experience is preferred. Experience with Power BI and/or Anaplan will be well regarded.

  • Ability to work on multiple priorities within tight deadlines with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility
