Job summary

Chosen Family is seeking a reliable, patient and engaging male Disability Support Worker to support a 32-year-old male participant with ASD in Ingleburn, NSW. The role focuses on consistent, person-centred support, clear communication, and building a trusting rapport to empower independence.

Initial commitment is one regular shift per week (Wednesday 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, 4 hours). Additional shifts may be available as a strong working relationship grows.

Qualifications

• NDIS Worker Screening Check required.
• WWCC required.
• First Aid Certificate required.
• Valid Australian Driver’s Licence required.
• Reliable vehicle required.
• Inclusive approach to supporting diverse backgrounds required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support tailored to the participant’s needs, preferences and goals.
• Support shopping, community access and activities in the local area.
• Assist with appointments and community activities.
• Encourage independence and participation in the community.
• Build a respectful, trusting professional relationship with the participant.
• Communicate clearly and adapt to the participant’s communication style.
• Maintain shift notes and relevant documentation.
• Promote dignity, inclusion and self-determination in all support.
• Collaborate with the participant and the Chosen Family team.
