Job summary

ASG Equipment Group is seeking a Workshop Supervisor in Dubbo to lead a multidisciplinary team of 6–8 trades and manage overhaul, rebuild and major repair programs. The role focuses on safe, efficient workshop operation and continuous improvement while aligning with fleet needs and project requirements.

The successful candidate will bring 5–10+ years in heavy mobile equipment maintenance, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to cost, planning and quality control in a town-based setting.

Qualifications

• Formal trade qualification in Diesel Fitting or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is required.
• Approximately 5–10+ years’ experience in heavy mobile plant maintenance with supervision.
• Experience in mining, heavy equipment rental/hire or civil construction.
• Demonstrated experience with major repairs, overhauls and rebuilds.
• Strong technical knowledge of CAT, Hitachi, Komatsu and Liebherr equipment.
• Proven leadership, planning and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of ASG’s Dubbo workshop.

Maintenance has always been central to ASG’s operations. As the business and fleet continue to grow, they are now seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to take responsibility for their Dubbo workshop and lead the overhaul, rebuild and major repair function.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced heavy equipment maintenance professional who enjoys leading people while remaining close to the technical and operational aspects of a busy workshop.

Based in Dubbo, the Workshop Supervisor will lead an established team of approximately 6–8 tradespeople, including Diesel Fitters, Boilermakers and Electricians.

The workshop has a particular focus on overhauls, rebuilds and major repairs, ensuring ASG’s equipment is returned to operation safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating workflow, people, parts and resources while maintaining visibility over costs, timeframes and quality.

Importantly, ASG is looking for someone who can bring a proactive approach to the role – identifying opportunities to improve workshop processes, productivity and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

The Workshop Supervisor will be responsible for:

• Leading the day-to-day operation of ASG’s Dubbo workshop.
• Managing and coordinating a multidisciplinary maintenance team of approximately 6–8 people.
• Overseeing major repairs, component change-outs, equipment overhauls and rebuild programs.

• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting through relevant maintenance management systems.
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across workshop processes, productivity and equipment reliability.
• Developing, mentoring and supporting team members while maintaining high standards of accountability and workmanship.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced maintenance professional with a strong technical background in heavy mobile equipment and the leadership capability to get the best from an established trades team.

They will understand that running an effective workshop is about more than completing repairs. It requires strong planning, clear communication, accountability, commercial awareness and an uncompromising approach to safety and quality.

Ideally, candidates will bring:

• A formal trade qualification in Diesel Fitting, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5–10+ years’ experience within heavy mobile plant maintenance, including demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience.
• Experience within mining, heavy equipment rental/hire, civil construction or a comparable environment.
• Demonstrated experience with major repairs, overhauls and/or rebuilds of heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Strong technical knowledge across equipment from manufacturers such as CAT, Hitachi, Komatsu and Liebherr.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary trades teams.
• Strong maintenance planning and problem-solving capability.
• An understanding of workshop costs, parts management and maintenance budgets.
• Sound knowledge of relevant safety, environmental and compliance requirements.
• Experience using maintenance management systems and reporting tools.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with tradespeople, operations and senior management.
• A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach.

As this is a town-based position, candidates will need to currently reside in Dubbo or be genuinely prepared to relocate to the area.
