Job summary

Anglo American is seeking a CHPP Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance activities at Capcoal Mine, Middlemount. You will apply your trade background and leadership to improve equipment reliability and plant availability across two CHPP plants.

Reporting to the CHPP Maintenance Superintendent, you will prioritise planned and emergent work, collaborate with the CHPP team and external providers, and deliver high‑quality results within tight timeframes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, or Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in CHPP or Processing Plant Operations (or similar).
• Current S123 and G2.
• Knowledge of Coal Mining Safety and Health Act & legislation and its application in the workplace.
• MS Office and SAP or similar Maintenance Management Systems.
• Ability to multi-task and coordinate various projects.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.
• Strong safety focus with ability to promote safety.
• Team-oriented and willing to raise colleagues' skill levels.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow process.
• Ability to accept new ideas and embrace change.

Job Description

German Creek CHPP processes coal from both Capcoal (Lake Lindsay) and Aquila. We have two plants, one 850tph and one 1600tph and an over laying conveyor (OLC) that has 22km of belt. As the CHPP Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will be required to use your trade background and leadership skills to lead and develop the people, processes, and systems to carry out maintenance activities within the CHPP safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Working closely with the broader CHPP team, you will be responsible for driving equipment reliability and plant availability through the delivery of planned and emergent maintenance activities. As one of the Bowen Basin's largest and most unique CHPP’s, this is a challenging yet highly rewarding role, offering exposure to a complex and large scale steelmaking coal operation and providing an opportunity to broaden your technical knowledge, leadership capability and overall understanding of CHPP operations.

• Acquired computer software skills including Microsoft Suite (project, excel, word, power point etc) and Maintenance Management Systems (SAP or similar )
• Ability to multi-task and coordinate various projects
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships
• Strong safety focus with a demonstrated ability to promote and encourage safety
• General interest in being a team-oriented player, who will seek to raise the skill level of colleagues
• Attention to detail and ability to follow process
