JBS Australia in Ipswich is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of Mechanical Fitters and Electricians responsible for the safe, reliable operation of critical production equipment. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager in a fast-paced meat processing facility.

You will drive proactive maintenance, coordinate breakdown responses, and develop tradespeople while ensuring safety and compliance standards are met.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical, or a related discipline.
• Leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing, food processing, meat processing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance systems, equipment reliability and preventative maintenance practices.
• Proven ability to lead teams in a large-scale production environment.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• A strong commitment to safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
• The ability to build positive working relationships across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership to the maintenance team, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance activities are carried out safely and with minimal production disruption.
• Coordinate breakdown response and fault-finding activities and oversee preventative maintenance programs.
• Drive initiatives to improve equipment reliability, performance and asset longevity.
• Collaborate with Production and site stakeholders to minimise downtime and align resources to business needs.
• Coach and develop tradespeople and apprentices and support ongoing improvement projects.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety, quality and site compliance standards.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement across the team.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our team and lead a skilled group of Mechanical Fitters and Electricians in supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical production equipment across our facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this is an ideal opportunity for a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about developing people, improving equipment performance and driving operational excellence.

In this role, you will provide day‑to‑day leadership to the maintenance team, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance activities are carried out safely, effectively and with minimal disruption to production. You will coordinate breakdown response and fault‑finding activities, oversee preventative maintenance programs and drive initiatives that improve equipment reliability, performance and asset longevity.

Working closely with Production and other site stakeholders, you will play a key role in minimising downtime, prioritising maintenance workloads and ensuring maintenance resources are aligned to business needs. Your ability to balance operational demands with strong planning and communication will be critical to achieving site performance objectives.

Beyond technical expertise, this role requires a leader who can build capability within their team and foster a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement. You will coach and develop tradespeople and apprentices, support ongoing improvement projects and ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with food safety, quality and site compliance standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical, or a related discipline
