Job summary

Ventia in Victoria is looking for a Traffic Signals / ITS Maintenance Supervisor to lead safe, efficient maintenance across ITS and traffic signal assets, managing field crews and coordinating planned and emergency work to meet safety and client requirements.

You will ensure fault response, maintain records, guide subcontractors, and drive performance targets in live traffic environments across Victoria.

Qualifications

• Current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence, White Card (Construction Induction Card), and a valid driver's licence.
• 5+ years' experience in traffic signals, ITS, street lighting, electrical maintenance, transport infrastructure, utilities, or similar field maintenance environments.
• Proven leadership experience supervising electricians, technicians, subcontractors, and field crews in live operational environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of traffic signal systems, ITS assets, signal controllers, detectors, communications equipment, and roadside infrastructure.
• Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, site layouts, and technical documentation.

The VIMC contract involves the operation, maintenance and performance management of critical Intelligent Transport Systems, traffic signal assets, communications networks, electrical infrastructure and associated roadside technology across live traffic environments.

These assets include traffic signal sites, signal controllers, lanterns, detector systems, pedestrian facilities, communications networks, CCTV, VMS, vehicle detection systems, over height detection, travel time systems, roadside cabinets, field devices, power supplies and associated network interfaces.

About the role

The Traffic Signals / ITS Maintenance Supervisor leads and oversees the safe and efficient delivery of traffic signal and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) maintenance. The role manages field crews, coordinates planned and emergency maintenance, allocates daily work, supports fault response, oversees subcontractors, and ensures all work meets contract, safety, quality, and client requirements.

Working closely with operational, engineering, planning, safety, and inventory teams, the supervisor ensures faults are resolved promptly, assets are restored, records are maintained, and performance targets are achieved. The position requires a hands‑on leader who can make sound decisions in live traffic environments, support technical troubleshooting, maintain high safety standards, and foster a positive and accountable team culture.

About you
