Job summary

Service Stream is recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee safe, compliant maintenance of traffic control systems under long-term ITS contracts in Victoria. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage fault responses and drive capability transfer to internal teams while meeting fault, service and quality targets.

Ideal candidates will have experience supervising electrical/ITS maintenance teams, frontline leadership skills and a strong focus on safety, quality and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising electrical, traffic signal and ITS maintenance teams.
• Construction induction card and Victorian driver licence required.
• Knowledge of traffic, electrical and field safety controls and maintenance quality.

Job description

We are excited to launch new roles in our Transport division to support our two new long-term Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) maintenance contracts awarded by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning. The Victoria West ITS Maintenance Contract (VIMC) will see our teams maintain more than 4,500 ITS assets across 27 Local Government Areas, covering around a third of metropolitan Melbourne and extending west to the South Australian border. We also have the Motorway Communications Network Contract, which connects more than 2,000 roadside devices including lane use management signs, variable speed limit signs, freeway ramp signals, CCTV and sensor technologies, while also connecting private road operators with Victoria’s transport control system.

About the Role:

As our Maintenance Supervisor, you will supervise safe, responsive and compliant maintenance of traffic control systems under the VIMC contract, coordinating subcontractors and transitioning capability to internal teams while meeting fault, service and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Safe field delivery
• Plan, allocate and supervise reactive, routine and planned TCS maintenance, ensuring work is completed by competent and authorised personnel.
• Verify permits, traffic management, electrical safety, risk assessments, isolation requirements, tools, materials and site controls before work starts.
• Fault response
• Coordinate response to TCS faults and incidents, confirm priorities and service levels, and maintain communication with Works Monitoring, DTP, TOC and other stakeholders.
• Escalate jeopardy, safety risks, access constraints and repeat failures and support emergency response arrangements.
• People and subcontractors
• Lead pre-starts, toolbox talks, competency checks and field coaching. Manage subcontractor performance, evidence, conduct and compliance.
• Support the planned transition of work to internal teams, including capability, equipment, procedures and verification of competency.
• Quality and records
• Ensure work orders, test results, photos, materials, time, defect outcomes and completion evidence are accurate and submitted promptly.
• Inspect completed work, address defects and non-conformances and contribute to reliability and continuous improvement reviews.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will have experience supervising electrical, traffic signal, ITS, communications or comparable infrastructure maintenance teams and subcontractors.

You may also have:

• Experience with reactive fault response and planned maintenance in live operational environments.
• Construction induction card and current Victorian driver licence. Relevant licences and authorisations where required.
• Frontline leadership, work allocation, incident response and contractor management.
• Knowledge of traffic, electrical and field safety controls and maintenance quality requirements.
• Ability to interpret work orders, technical information, KPIs and service levels.
