Job summary

RLX is seeking an experienced maintenance leader to keep critical infrastructure operating safely and efficiently at the Leongatha site in Victoria. The role supports maintenance performance in a fast-paced livestock environment and involves hands-on site upkeep and coordination of routine tasks.

Located at 670 South Gippsland Hwy, Koonwarra VIC, the role requires a Q fever vaccination or willingness to obtain one and offers a dynamic operational setting with regular sale-day support and welfare

Qualifications

• Proven experience in plant and equipment maintenance.
• Light fabrication and welding experience.
• Knowledge of loaders, tractors, bobcats and other plant equipment.
• Knowledge of pumps and livestock watering systems.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Strong computer skills and ability to maintain electronic databases.
• Commitment to safe work practices in a sale yard environment.
• Basic plumbing knowledge.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic operational environment.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning and maintenance of the site assets including buildings, sheds, machinery, vehicles, yards and equipment ensuring all areas are clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Comply with safe work practices and WHS processes and procedures, relevant legislation, licensing and codes of practice in maintenance activities.
• Cleaning and maintenance of water troughs, truck wash and sediment trap.
• Aerating the soft floor in the cattle pavilion.
• Assistance with sale day operations as required.
• Effluent maintenance.
• Monitoring stock on agistment.
• Fence maintenance.

Job description

Regional Livestock Exchanges (RLX) is a leading agriculture organisation with core strengths of Infrastructure Management, stock handling and sales services, our operations are located throughout the eastern seaboard. This role is located at 670 South Gippsland Hwy, Koonwarra VIC, EVLX formerly (VLE).

EVLX joined the RLX portfolio in 2026, after being operated by Victorian Livestock Exchange since opening at the Leongatha site in 2006.

Leongatha was the largest throughput saleyard in Victoria in four of the past five years, with almost a quarter of reported saleyard cattle in Victoria transacted through the site in FY25, hosting weekly Prime and Store Cattle sales along with seasonal Sheep sales.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:
