The Company

Our client is a leading Australian food manufacturing business with a strong national presence and an established reputation for supplying high-quality products across the Australian market. Operating across a large-scale manufacturing and distribution network, the business is committed to operational excellence, maintaining high standards of safety and reliability, and continually investing in its facilities and infrastructure.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join the business and take responsibility for the effective management, maintenance and ongoing improvement of its industrial facilities. This role will be critical in ensuring site infrastructure, building services and essential utilities are maintained to the highest standards, supporting safe, reliable and efficient manufacturing operations.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing facilities management across an industrial manufacturing environment, ensuring buildings, infrastructure, utilities and site services remain safe, compliant, reliable and fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of industrial facilities, buildings, infrastructure, utilities and associated site services within a large-scale food manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies for building services, infrastructure and essential plant utilities to maximise reliability and minimise unplanned disruptions.
  • Manage facilities maintenance activities, coordinating internal resources, external contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
  • Take ownership of facilities-related capital projects, refurbishments, infrastructure upgrades and asset improvement initiatives from planning through to delivery and commissioning.
  • Oversee critical building services and industrial utilities, including HVAC, refrigeration, compressed air, boilers, water systems, drainage, electrical infrastructure and other essential services, as applicable to the site.
  • Manage contractor engagement, performance, inductions, permits, risk assessments and safe systems of work to ensure all facilities activities meet site requirements.
  • Develop and manage facilities budgets, maintenance expenditure and capital investment plans, identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and asset performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve energy efficiency, water consumption, waste management, sustainability and the overall performance of site infrastructure.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers, ensuring facilities services support the operational requirements and long-term objectives of the business.
Your Background

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Significant experience in a Maintenance Management role within an industrial, manufacturing, processing or similarly complex operational environment.
  • Trade or degree qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience managing facilities, infrastructure and building services within a large-scale industrial site, ideally within food manufacturing, FMCG, beverage, pharmaceutical or another process-driven industry.
  • A strong understanding of industrial facilities and essential services, including HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, electrical infrastructure, water systems and associated building services.
  • Proven experience developing and managing preventative maintenance programs, contractor relationships, facilities budgets and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • A sound understanding of workplace health and safety legislation, contractor management, risk assessments, statutory compliance and facilities‑related regulatory requirements.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budget management, cost control, procurement and supplier performance management.
What's On Offer?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major national food manufacturing business where you can take ownership of critical maintenance infrastructure and make a tangible contribution to site reliability, safety and operational performance.

You will have the opportunity to manage a diverse range of industrial facilities, lead infrastructure and improvement projects, and work closely with experienced engineering and operational teams within a well‑established manufacturing environment.

For an experienced Maintenance Manager with a strong industrial background, this role offers the opportunity to take on a key position within a large organisation, influence facilities strategy and deliver meaningful improvements across essential site infrastructure and services.
