Job summary

Waterview Gosford Motor Inn is seeking a reliable Maintenance & General Hand to keep the motel well maintained, clean and running smoothly. The role combines general repairs, pool care, basic gardening, common-area cleaning and laundry assistance in a varied, independent setting.

Hours are 3–5 days per week with 4–6 hour shifts, typically starting 8am–9am and finishing 12pm–2pm. Friday and Saturday availability is essential, with casual rates including superannuation and allowances.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in general maintenance, handyman work or a similar practical role.
• Confidence using common hand and power tools safely.
• A current driver’s licence valid in NSW.
• The ability to work independently, organise tasks and recognise when specialist help is needed.
• Reliability, attention to detail and respectful communication with colleagues and guests.
• Will ingness to assist with gardening, cleaning and laundry as part of a varied role.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance and repairs to doors, windows, wardrobes, cupboards, hinges and fittings.
• Painting touch-ups, patching, sealing and general upkeep of the property.
• Routine inspections of rooms, facilities and equipment to identify maintenance issues early.
• Safe general maintenance tasks such as replacing batteries and light globes.
• Identify and report plumbing or electrical faults; assist licensed tradespeople as needed.

Waterview Gosford Motor Inn – West Gosford NSW

We’re looking for a reliable, practical Maintenance & General Hand to help keep our motel well maintained, clean and running smoothly.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining general repairs, pool care, basic gardening, common-area cleaning and laundry assistance. It would suit someone who enjoys working independently, solving everyday maintenance problems and helping a small team.

Hours and pay

Approximately 3–5 days per week, with 4–6 hours per shift, depending on operational needs.

Generally starting between 8am and 9am, and finishing between 12pm and 2pm.

Friday and Saturday availability is essential. Other days can be discussed.

Paid at Hospitality Industry (General) Award Level 4 casual rates:

$36.81 per hour on weekdays

$44.18 per hour on Saturdays

These rates include casual loading. Superannuation, other applicable penalties and allowances are additional.

What you’ll be doing

General maintenance and repairs

Minor carpentry and repairs to doors, windows, wardrobes, cupboards, hinges, handles and other fittings.

Painting touch-ups, patching, sealing and general property upkeep.

Routine inspections of rooms, facilities and equipment to identify maintenance issues early.

Safe general maintenance tasks, such as replacing batteries and light globes.

Identifying and reporting plumbing or electrical faults, and assisting licensed contractors as needed. Work requiring a trade licence will be handled by appropriately licensed tradespeople.

Pool, gardening and common areas

Routine pool cleaning, water testing and care in accordance with the motel’s procedures.

Basic gardening and grounds upkeep, including mowing, weeding, light pruning and keeping garden beds tidy.

Keeping walkways, courtyards, car parks and pool surrounds clean and tidy.

Sweeping, litter collection and emptying bins.

Laundry and team support

Collecting, moving and sorting linen.

Operating washing machines and dryers, and transferring clean linen for folding.

Helping with other reasonable general duties around the motel.

The balance of duties will vary each day. Laundry and common-area work are regular parts of the role, with priorities adjusted when maintenance issues require attention.

What we’re looking for
